Analysis of INGRESS PROTECTION

- Apr 25, 2019-

The protection level is usually expressed by IP followed by two Numbers, which are used to define the protection level.

The first number indicates the range of dust resistance of the device, or the degree to which people are protected from hazards in a sealed environment.Represents the level to prevent solid foreign body from entering. The highest level is 6.

The second number indicates the degree to which the device is waterproof.Represents the level of water prevention, the highest level is 8.

unprotected

No special protection for people or things outside

1

To prevent the invasion of solid objects with a diameter greater than 50mm.

There is no special protection for people or objects in the outside to prevent human body (such as palm) from accidental contact with the parts inside the electrical appliances, and prevent the invasion of external objects with larger size (diameter greater than 50mm)

2

To prevent the invasion of solid objects with a diameter greater than 12.5mm.

Prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the appliance, and prevent the invasion of medium size (diameter greater than 12.5mm)

3

To prevent the invasion of solid objects with a diameter greater than 2.5mm.

Prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects with diameter or thickness greater than 2.5mm from invading and touching parts inside the appliance

4

To prevent the invasion of solid objects with a diameter greater than 1.0mm.

Prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects with diameters or thicknesses greater than 1.0mm from invading and touching parts inside the appliance

5

Prevent external objects and dust

Prevent outside content to invade completely, although cannot prevent dirt to invade completely, but the invaded quantity or dirt wont affect the normal operation of electric equipment

6

Prevent external objects and dust

Completely prevent external objects and dust invasion

unprotected

No special protection against water or moisture

1

Water droplet protection

Vertically falling water droplets, such as condensation, do not damage electrical appliances

2

At a tilt of 15 degrees, water droplets can still be prevented from entering

When the electrical appliances from the vertical tilt to 15 degrees, water will not cause damage to electrical appliances

3

Prevent spraying water from entering

Rain proof or prevent the direction of the Angle with the Vertical less than 60 degrees of water spray into the electrical appliances and cause damage

4

Prevent splashing water from entering

Prevent the water from all directions splash into the electrical appliances and cause damage

5

To Prevent the injection of water immersion

Prevent low pressure spraying for at least 3 minutes

6

Prevent large waves from immersing

Prevent heavy spraying of water that lasts at least 3 minutes

7

Prevent water immersion when submerged

Protect against the effects of 30 minutes of immersion in water up to 1m deep

8

Prevent water ingress during sinking

Protection against the effects of 30 minutes of immersion in water up to 1 meter deep and continued immersion in water over 1 meter deep. Exact conditions are specified by the manufacturer for each device.
