Silk screen process introduction-section one

As a 20 years manufacturer of kinds of enclosure for electronic device,the silk screen is a very important process in custom metal/plastic enclosure.

1.Principle of silk screen

After the ink passes through a part of the mesh of the screen, it is printed on the substrate, and the remaining mesh of the screen is blocked, and the ink is not transparent, and this part forms a blank on the substrate. As shown in Fig. 1, the ink is poured on the screen, and the ink does not leak through the mesh to the substrate without external force, and when the scraper scrapes the ink at a certain pressure and inclination angle, it is Copying the image through the screen to the underlying substrate. Screen printing, copying, printing wax and hollow printing are all printed on the orifice plate. Hole plate, letterpress, gravure, and lithography are collectively referred to as four printing methods.

2.Characteristics

a. Wide print substrate: Since the plate is made of silk screen, it is soft and flexible, so the substrate can be printed whether it is flat or curved, hard or soft, large or small. In addition, the silk screen is suitable for printing fragile and easily deformable substrates due to low pressure.

b. the ink layer is thick and strong hiding power: the thickness of the silk screen ink layer, other printing methods are incomparable. If the underlying color is covered with white, the ordinary printing method is required to print 3 to 4 times on the same part, and the silk screen can be completed in one time. The thickness of the silk screen ink layer is generally 20 microns, and the special thick film printing can reach 1000 microns and the thinnest is 6 microns. It can be seen that the silk screen ink layer is not only thick but also adjustable in range.

c. strong stereoscopic effect: the effect of imitation print and copy optimization is very realistic, and the color effect is also checked for offset printing. However, the copying effect of fine graphics is limited.

d. Good light fastness: After the light-inhibiting pigment and fluorescent pigment are transferred into the ink, the printed image can maintain the gloss for a long time without being affected by temperature and sunlight, and even emit light at night. Therefore, silk screen products are suitable for use as outdoor advertising, signage, and the like.

e. Large format: In terms of printing area, general offset printing, embossing and other methods are far less than silk screen due to the limitations of mechanical equipment. The maximum screen size can be up to 3mx4m or larger.

f. Applicable ink types: water-based, oil-based, solvent-based, etc. are suitable. The wide range of screen printing inks has exceeded the definition of conventional inks, and some are actually pastes, pastes, and powders. Screen printing inks are collectively referred to as printing materials.
