The difference between Galvanized Steel and Electro-Galvanized Steel

- Aug 27, 2020-

As a professional manufacturer of metal case,we use different material to make the case, such as aluminum plate, iron, stainless steel, galvanized steel,electro-galvanized steel etc.

Different metal material have different characteristic, today we'll introduce the galvanized and electrolytic plate.

The galvanized plate and electrolytic plate are all steel plate, the main elements are iron and carbon, what's the difference between them?

1.The production process is different

Electrolytic plate, also known as electro-galvanized plate, is the process of using electrolysis to form a uniform, dense, and well-bonded metal or alloy deposition layer on the surface of the workpiece.

Galvanized sheet refers to a steel sheet coated with a layer of zinc on the surface. Galvanizing is an economical and effective anti-rust method that is often used. About half of the world's zinc output is used in this process.

2. Different roles

The electrolytic plate is rolled by the tandem cold rolling mill and then annealed by the CAPL mill before entering the electrogalvanizing mill. After surface cleaning and electroplating, it can be treated with phosphating, passivation, oiling, fingerprint resistance, alloying, etc. according to different uses. Refer to the corresponding substrate for the mechanical properties of the products obtained afterwards.

Galvanized steel sheet is to prevent corrosion on the surface of the steel sheet and extend its service life. A layer of metallic zinc is coated on the surface of the steel sheet. This kind of galvanized steel sheet is called galvanized sheet.

3. Different application

After the electrolytic plate is passivated (blue and white), it can replace chromium with zinc (comparable to chromium plating), especially after adding water-soluble varnish, it is difficult for laymen to distinguish whether it is galvanized or chromium plating.

The galvanized sheet should have a good appearance, and there must be no defects that are harmful to the use of the product, such as no plating, holes, cracks, scum, excessive plating thickness, scratches, chromic acid dirt, white rust, etc. Foreign standards are not very clear about specific appearance defects.
